Eastern Region Social, Hallowtree Scout Camp, 2019
As one of the first meets of the camping season it was quite well attended this year with several newbies to the site and a Regional Meet. We had a total of 20 units from around the Region.
Friday was a quiet night meeting up with old friends after a winter break for some or 4th meet for some hardy souls.
Saturday morning was free with some venturing out to Ipswich or walking down to the Orwell river bank, the weather was perfect for walking. For the afternoons entertainment it was board games brought in by members with others either watching or joining in and making new aquaintances. I was thoroughly thrashed by Josie Collins (age 10) in a game of Pucket (a very frustrating game! thanks to Andy Barker for that one). Games varied from cards, Beat the Buzzer, Jenga, Rummikub to name a few. Thanks to all those who took part, I hope you enjoyed it.
Saturday evening started slightly late with a 3 course meal (only £6 per head) of Soup or Pate, Steak and Ale pie with mash and 3 veg finished off with either Raspberry Pavlova or a tasty Sherry Trifle!
This was followed by bingo, a quiz and a couple of games, thanks again to those who joined in.
Sunday was coffee morning and raffle draw.
We were looked after by the weather with a bit of rain on Sunday.
Next year will be the workshop followed by a social, probably the first weekend in March – if you haven’t been then give it a go and you can learn more about your club if you want or just enjoy the social side. We look forward to seeing you there.
